زندگي همچون يك اثر هنري

Introduction by the translator

One key feature of this text is its approachable style, where not only a highly abstruse philosophy becomes tangible but also its simple language makes its translation a less hazardous journey. This quality is shown in the way Deleuze presents his approach to the “life” of Foucault. This interview benefits from a minimum of technical terminology and may enable the reader to be taken in by the very “style” of Deleuzean thought. The growing importance of Michel Foucault in Iran was another factor in choosing such a text where another approach to Foucault however brief and curt, can be offered. Against the background of the immanence of constraining Foucault to a “structuralist” or “Interpretive Analytics” of Dreyfus, this translation wanted to stress the possibility of reading Foucault through Deleuzean concepts which looks to be more political and actuel and that is the reason why this translation was published in Kargozaran as an introduction to the translation of Deleuze’s Foucault by Afshin Jahandide and Nikoo Sarkhosh; a book that provides an accessible conspectus of both Deleuze and Foucault. It goes without saying that such a translation necessitates adapting new Persian terms in order to meet the requirements of the text. [Translation available in pdf.]
